Noise & Vibration - New HSE Campaign
The HSE has launched a new campaign highlighting the long‑term harm caused by noise and vibration at work and the importance of early action.
As a Health & Safety Consultancy, we want to make sure our members are aware of this update and have access to the practical guidance now available.
Noise and vibration remain common workplace risks, and the impact can be permanent. Hearing loss, tinnitus, HAVS and carpal tunnel syndrome are all conditions linked to prolonged exposure - and many workers don’t realise damage is occurring until symptoms appear.
The HSE’s new campaign encourages employers to take a structured approach built around three steps:
Assess Understand where noise and vibration exposures exist and who may be affected.
Control Put effective controls in place, select suitable equipment, maintain it properly, and adopt safer working methods.
Protect Where risks cannot be fully eliminated, ensure workers have appropriate protection, health surveillance where required, and clear information and training.
The message is simple: acting early prevents long‑term, life‑changing health conditions and supports employers in meeting their legal duties.
As always, EB Safety Group is here to help members review their arrangements, assess exposure, and strengthen controls. If you would like support with noise or vibration risk management, our advisors are available.
